Since 2021 our u3a has agreed to adopt the Kidderminster Main line station with a view to:

*Making the station more relevant to the locality.

*Involving local people in the station enabling railways, local communities, and local businesses and organisations to work together.

*Develop Arts projects, convey local history, advertise what the surrounding area has to offer, as well as Planting and Landscaping parts of the station.

This is a u3a interest group with a difference, and what we do can have a big impact in our community, as well as promoting the existence of our u3a.

The vision for the station is wide and long term, and project ideas have been put in place, some of these are already in the process of coming to fruition. Others are taking a little longer, due to the processes we need to go through with West Midlands Trains, who lease the station, and Network Rail who own the station.

There is already a core of volunteers who all want to make a difference at the station, however, we welcome more members who feel they would like to contribute to this project: the main volunteer core we need to increase is on the gardening projects. “Many hands make light work” and the more we have the easier it will be to maintain the ongoing projects.
